OUR HISTORY

Restoration of Hope Church History

Elder Lionel Husband was a member of Faith and Hope Temple Church of God In Christ (COGIC) located at 1800 E Washington Street, Petersburg, Virginia for seven years.  He served under the leadership of Superintendent Herman Crockett, Junior.  After years of faithful service, Elder Husband determined that God was calling him to do more.  With the Spirit’s leading, he founded Restoration of Hope COGIC Ministries with the belief that God can reach the lost through ministry given in love.

Initially, Elder Husband conducted a bible study in his home located at 6708 Redwing Ct, Prince George, Virginia.  Several weeks of sparse attendance was discouraging and Elder Husband reconsidered his decision to start a ministry.   Returning to his former ministry seemed like the best option but faith in God and a determination to press on kept the doors opened.  Also, encouragement from friends and family convinced him that God did not call him to fail and quitting never became an option again.

On November 10, 2010, Pastor Lionel Husband, First Lady Curtis Husband, and their daughter Desiree held their first service at North Elementary School located at 3201 Dale Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia.  Church service was held at this location for two years.  Because of Pastor and First Lady’s dedication to the ministry, God blessed the church and allowed it to grow both physically and spiritually.  In January of 2011, God blessed the church with a family of seven and, eventually, multiple families who committed themselves to the church and to the ministry.

The journey wasn’t an easy one.  Pastor Husband began to consider the possibility that the current location (a school) could be hindering church growth.  As a result, the church prayed for a new location with a more traditional church setting.  They also prayed that God would continue to grow the ministry.  It wasn’t long before God sent an answer.  Another pastor, Elder Lowell Thomas, informed Pastor Husband about a possible building.  After some investigation and negotiation, Restoration of Hope Ministries moved into a new location at 508 South 17th Street, Hopewell, Virginia.   Many services were held at this location but it would not be the final destination.  Pastor Husband is committed to moving as the Spirit leads.

A desire for more space which would afford more opportunity for growth and ministry, led Pastor Husband to pray for and seek out a new location.  While talking with his co-worker, Mrs. Helen Aragon, about his desires for more space and a better location, she mentioned an available locations at 4817 Prince George Drive, Prince George, Virginia.  After making the proper arrangements, the new space was secured.  On March 1, 2015, Restoration of Hope Ministries moved to its current location at 4817 Prince George Drive, Prince George, Virginia.  The ministry continues to grow and accomplish the mission for which is was established

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.

We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for Him.
